  My Wedding is coming up going to invite parents and siblings what to do????

  hey guys,.

  my wedding is coming up and i am going to invite my mom and my dad and the rest of my siblings.

  how should i react when my recently new regular pioneer mother starts pitching a fit????

  I hope it goes well for you, but I agree that the watchtower holds people hostage in these situations. My son was Dfd when he got married. I was not supposed to attend according to the elders. At the last minute, I got dressed and went anyway. The smile on his face when he saw me there and the huge hug he gave me afterwards was worth any 'RISK' of losing favor with the smug, uncaring jws.

  Do invite your parents sincerely and remind them it is really special for them to share this with you. I know that's putting yourself out there emotionally, but hopefully it will stir that natural love that is being stifled by the jws.

  I did see the movie "Across The Universe". It was an audio/visual experience. I plan to but the DVD when it comes out.

  I grew up with the Beatles and I loved it all. Followed their solo carreers too, except for Ringo. Hard to pick favorites, but Here Comes The Sun can always pick me up from a bad mood. The White Album and Abbey Road stand out. Earlier days brings to mind Rubber Soul. Always loved Norwegian Wood. Oh and Blackbird. Way too many to choose.

  It is such a shame two of them are gone now. Much too soon. I saw Paul's last concert tour also. He hasn't lost anything. His voice is as beautiful as it always was.

  Favorite album- Sticky fingers. I remember they had a zipper on the cover. Unfortunately, I threw it away when I was told I had to purge my devil music to become a good little dub.

  Jehovah's Witnesses: Disassociation and Lawsuits, I have a question!!

  many of you who have or had been jehovahs witnesses for sometime will remember that back before say 1980 or so, the congregation could disassociate an unbaptized person and that person was treated as disfellowshipped.

  that happened a lot, pre 1980.. .

  for example, as a teenager in the 60s, several of the teenagers in my cong were disassociated and treated as disfellowshipped .

  I remember a situation where a 16 year old girl was announced as a disapproved assoiciate. She ran away from home and her parents obediently shunned her. Years later, when they changed the policy, the parents lavished attention on her.

  It opened my eyes to the blind obedience of the rank and file. The girl had changed nothing, still involved in the same things that had gotten her kicked out.

  I absolutely hate the policy of shunning. There is no excuse to tear apart families. Don't know if there was a lawsuit or just the possibiliy of one that caused the change in policy, but the watchtower only responds to possible legal threats. Otherwise, they couldn't care less what they do to hurt people.

  Thinking of giving it all up!

  i am sure this isn't a mid-life crisis i have done that and got out of the jws.

  .

  but i am seriously thinking of just leaving the west with its rat race, emphasis on money, senseless tv and media, cars, shopping malls, pre-packaged food, supermarkets, etc, etc, and moving to india to live in a small cottage near a beach somewhere.. anyone else got the urge to get out of the rat-race?.

  Sounds great! Only thing that would hold me back is my grown kids and grandkids. Don't know if I could stand to be so far from them.

  I understand about wanting to get away from all the clutter though.

  i thought it needed it's own place.. documents showed the tower suggests $4.50 per publisher.

  the insurance has been in place since 1989.. for just in the last year, in america alone, the tower had made 4.5 million just on insurence premiums.

  It used to irritate me when they broke costs down per publisher. Nothing like telling you how much you HAD to give them. But then it irritated me too when they just kept adding on costs they expected you to cover, like insurance and new cars for the COs. Why do they need a nicer car then the ones who actually pay for them?

  It's all a racket. They were right about that.

  Why does the WBTS keep confusing 'rulership' with 'kingdom'?

  i get annoyed at how the society keeps harping on about how 'the kingdom' of god is actually a heavenly governmental rulership, made up of 144,000 & christ.

  for example, this quote in the study article about god's sovereignty just reviewed:.

  "a sovereign generally exercises his authority through an agency that is placed over his subjects.the kingdom of god, therefore, is an expression or exercise of god's universal sovereignty toward his creatures, a means or an agency used by him to carry out his rulership.".

  The watchtower takes everything away from the rank and file witnesses. They can't inherit the kingdom, as you brought out. They also can't even claim Jesus as their mediator, as they say only the 144,000 are in the new covenant. Then they say the Greek Scriptures were only written for the 144,000.

  Are they ever in for a big surprise. Exalt themselves, they do.
